The Making of the Mock-up

Let’s Talk…. Mock-ups!

When trying to seamlessly connect all of the pieces of your design, mock-ups can provide a comprehensive visual of your tabletop, floral, furniture, and overall decor elements. Admittedly, mock-ups are one of the most difficult parts of our business, hence the hot-ness of this topic! 🔥

Here at Treasury Rentals we offer two main types of mockup options: digital and physical. Each of these two options provides clients a visual representation of their vision and the ability to piece together styles to find out what complements all other decor and design elements.

Digital Mock-ups

Digital mock-ups are ideal for early design stages and conversations with clients with a wide list of items of interest. This option also leaves space for us to make small recommendations based on how the design starts coming together. Although we do not provide full design as part of our standard services, no one knows the colors and textures of our collection quite like we do. We provide insight and recommendations to give you the confidence that the digital images reflect our styles and the way they work together.

While creating your digital mock-ups we simultaneously check item availability for your specific event date to ensure that your requested or our suggested items are available for rental at the time your mockups are delivered.

Sharing additional design images such as floral and linen choices or inspiration that we can include in our mock-up is always helpful.

Digital mock-ups are most impactful when all pieces of the place setting are coming from us as we only mock-up items that are being rented from us.

Our digital mock-up happens early in the design process as you are trying to determine what options would best fit your style. Once your final selections are made and you’ve booked with us, we will create a final table set guide during the month before your event that includes the proper way to set the items rented from us that will be included in your delivery packet.

Physical Mockups

Physical mock-ups are great for floral design meetings and overall finalization and confirmation of the tabletop design based on a curated set of styles. Typically, our clients have already booked their rentals with us or at least have a full proposal in the works by their in person mock-up and are seeing pieces from all of their design vendors together to ensure it is what they are envisioning. This is the perfect time to make final adjustments. If you are waiting to make your decisions during an in-person mock-up, be sure to schedule it far enough in advance to ensure the pieces you’re interested in are still available. We are unable to hold specific inventory for extended periods of time without a signed contract and a retainer for your order received.

We rotate the individual pieces that are used for each style for physical mockups to ensure that the quality of our mockups matches the quality of our event day rentals. While we pride ourselves in the care we take for each of our items, it is also important to us that we approach the presentation of our items with honesty and transparency.

We currently offer two options for acquiring physical items for your mockup: will-call and shipping.

See HERE how we pack our mock-ups!

For will-call mock-up orders there is no cost for the items, nor an additional fee for the will-call service itself. Our team pre-packages the items and prepares them for pickup at the scheduled time at our Lakeland warehouse and within our warehouse hours of Monday-Thursday between 10:00am-3:00pm. All will-calls are scheduled in one hour time slots to ensure that a member of our team is ready and available for your arrival. Returns are likewise scheduled in one hour time slots to our warehouse within our standard operating hours. The will-call option is ideal for larger mockup orders, especially those requesting multiple styles of china or glassware or for multiple place settings.

For shipping mock-up orders, similar to will-call orders, there is no fee for the mock-up items themselves. There is a shipping fee that is charged, based on the size and weight of the order, that covers both delivery and return shipping. Unless otherwise discussed, all shipped mockup boxes will include a prepaid return shipping label so that the items can easily be repackaged and returned to your local UPS store for delivery back to Treasury Rentals.

The sooner we receive mock-up requests the more flexibility we have to accommodate the items and order! Especially when it comes to shipping services, we are delighted that many in-state orders are delivered in 1-2 business days, but we must also provide our team ample time to add these tasks into their schedule on a given day.

Pros and Cons of Mock-up Options

Digital Mock-up

Pros:

  • Provides a visual for a larger assortment of styles.
  • A great jumping off point for event design.
  • Clients can review at their leisure and easily scroll through variations of their design without having to physically remove or reset items.

Cons:

  • Color and pattern variations of decor items are static. Variables such as lighting are not available to know how that may impact the design.

Physical Mock-up

Pros:

  • Clients can see the way the colors and designs come together with other elements in real life.
  • Can feel the weight and detail of each piece.

Cons:

  • Limited number of items available for presentation. Best used to finalize a design or decide between final options.
  • Items may not be available based on TR event schedule.

Overall, mock-ups are a phenomenal way for clients to visualize their design elements to see the way that their event day is coming to life! It is important to consider what step in the design process you are at in order to decide which of our mock-up options provides the best insight. Our team is always here to answer questions, offer suggestions, and ensure that your design aligns with your event vision!
